Man charged in four Lexington bank robberies
After Central Bank at 3270 Tates Creek Road was robbed at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Lexington police arrested a man they said was responsible for that and three other bank robberies.
Witnesses said a man with a firearm demanded and received money from Central Bank employees, then ran toward a waiting vehicle on Montavesta Drive. At Yellowstone Parkway and Pimlico Drive, police apprehended Ronnie Y. Birdsong, 46.
Police say they connected Birdsong with Thursday’s robbery as well as robberies from Forcht Bank, 140 Southland Drive, on Nov. 25; Community Trust Bank, 3090 Richmond Road, on Nov. 13; and Chase Bank, 2590 Richmond Road, on May 29.
Birdsong is charged with four counts of first-degree robbery; one count of first-degree burglary; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was lodged in the Fayette County jail on Thursday night.
