Simpsonville police officer charged in burglary of $30,000, drugs from evidence lockers
A Simpsonville officer has been arrested after a burglary at the police department where he worked, according to Kentucky State Police.
Terry Putnam, 54, of Simpsonville is charged with first-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000, two counts of theft by unlawful taking of a firearm, first-degree criminal mischief, official misconduct, theft by unlawful taking of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
The break in at the Simpsonville Police Department happened about 1 a.m. Nov. 6, according to state police.
Putnam allegedly broke into evidence lockers and stole about $30,000 in cash and an unknown quantity of narcotics and handguns.
