Police did not immediately identify the second victim or his medical condition.

Police said they got a call at 3:05 a.m. about a shooting in the 200 block of University Avenue. They said they found two men with gunshot wounds near a vehicle which might have been involved in the crime. The victims were taken to University of Kentucky Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the possible suspects were white men who had been wearing masks.

University of Kentucky spokesman Jay Blanton said the victims were not UK students.

In April, Jonathan Krueger, a UK student and campus newspaper photo editor, was shot and killed while walking home on East Maxwell Street. Two Lexington men have pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the case.
