Man shot in leg while sitting in stopped vehicle

A passenger in a car on Seventh Street in Lexington was shot in the leg Thursday afternoon.

The man told police that the vehicle was stopped at the corner of Seventh and Maple streets when a man walked up to the car to talk to him and shot him in the leg, police Lt. Thomas Perkins said.

The shooter fled in what was described as a newer gold Impala or Malibu.

The victim called police at 5:47 p.m. from nearby, on the 700 block of Lancaster Avenue. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Perkins said.

No arrests had been made Thursday night.
