Lexington crash injures driver, causes gas leak on Tates Creek Road

A crash Thursday night on Tates Creek Road sent a person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and caused a natural gas leak.

The person was driving outbound on Tates Creek Road near Cottage Grove lane about 10:45 p.m. and tried to pass another vehicle; the driver lost control and hit a tree, Lexington police Lt. Jeremy Tuttle said. The impact broke the gas line.

The collision reconstruction unit was at the scene of the crash Thursday night. As of midnight, outbound Tates Creek Road at Cottage Grove was shut down.
