Arrest warrant issued for suspect in slaying of Timothy Brown Jr.

Lexington police obtained an arrest warrant Thursday for a suspect in the Jan. 12 shooting death of Timothy Brown Jr.

On Thursday, police obtained an arrest warrant for Devonte Martez Hobbs, 21, on charges of murder and first-degree robbery.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Jan. 12, officers were called to the area of the McDonald’s parking lot at 1499 Russell Cave Road about shots fired and a possible injury collision. First-responders found Brown suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He died a few minutes later.

Police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said Brown had been robbed.

Brown, the father of five daughters, was engaged to be married.

Officers are working to find Hobbs, who goes by the street name “Tigg.”

It is the fifth of six Lexington homicides this year in which suspects have been named or arrested, Angel said.

Anyone with knowledge of Hobbs’ whereabouts or with additional information about the case is asked to call police at 859-258-3600. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020 or Bluegrasscrimestoppers.com.
