Two prisoners escaped through an unsecured vehicle door on the way to the Leslie County Detention Center from Knox County Monday night.

Kentucky State Police say one of the men has not been recaptured as of Tuesday morning.

Ledford Hamilton, 34, of Artemus, and Ronald B. Gray, 24, of Barbourville ran from the Leslie County transport vehicle when it stopped at Ky. 11 and U.S. 421 in Clay County around 5:15 p.m., according to a KSP release.

Hamilton was quickly recaptured about a mile and a half from where he escaped. Escape was added to previous charges relating to manufacturing and possessing drugs, according to jail records.

Gray was still missing Tuesday morning. He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt with gray pants or shorts and flip-flops, according to state police. His photo and his original charges were not provided.
