Nicholasville woman charged in abuse of 4-month-old infant

A Nicholasville woman has been charged with the abuse of a 4-month-old girl, police said Thursday.

Erin Thompson, 34, was charged Wednesday with first-degree criminal abuse and was being held in the Jessamine County jail.

Police said the infant was in Thompson’s care. She has a business in her house in the Southbrook subdivision in which she took care of several children, Officer Kevin Grimes said.

Police received a call Tuesday from University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital about an infant who had been admitted with injuries. Jessamine County Emergency Medical Services had taken the infant to UK Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

During the investigation, information led to Thompson, police said.

The investigation remains open.
