Lexington woman charged with crimes related to job at dentist’s office

A Lexington woman was arrested Thursday on charges of unlawfully taking prescription drugs and thousands of dollars while she worked at a dentist’s office last year.

Elsie Leighanne Lamb, 32, is accused of overbilling insurance providers and falsely endorsing checks into her own account, totaling more than $15,000, police said.

Lamb is also accused of getting controlled substances for herself by using a DEA number assigned to her employer and calling in false prescription orders, police said.

Lamb worked at the dentist’s office from February to November in 2015, police said. She handled the coordination of patient payments and accounts billable and filed insurance claims for the business.

Lamb is charged with theft by deception over $10,000, tampering with evidence, fraudulent insurance acts over $10,000, first-degree unlawful access to a computer, two counts of obtaining prescription controlled substances by fraud and 34 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said.
