Man stabbed three times on Florida Street after altercation

A man was stabbed Thursday afternoon during an altercation on Florida Street, Lexington police said.

The man was stabbed three times in the abdomen just before 5:30 p.m. and was able to make it to his nearby apartment to call police, Lt. Jackie Newman said.

The victim, who is thought to be in his 40s, was taken to the hospital and was not “in a medical state” that he could be interviewed, Newman said. Doctors do not yet know whether his injuries are life-threatening.

Lexington police are still searching for the stabber, who is described as a white man, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with a medium build and wearing basketball shorts, a dark green shirt and white shoes, Newman said.

Police will not know the cause of the altercation until the victim is well enough to be interviewed, Newman said. Anyone with information about the case may call police at 859-258-3600.
