Man arrested in Lexington Kroger parking lot robbery
A 33-year-old man was arrested early Saturday in Lexington and charged with first-degree robbery in connection with a grocery store parking lot crime.
Larry Thomas Byrd was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center, police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said.
Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the Kroger in Tates Creek Centre, where a woman’s purse had been stolen. The victim stated that she was loading groceries into her vehicle when a man approached and tried to grab her purse.
A brief struggle ensued, and the man struck the woman in the face, causing minor injuries. The man took the purse and fled in an older white pickup truck with striping on the side.
