Lexington police investigate two armed robberies of gas stations
Lexington police are investigating two gas station robberies early Monday that happened within minutes of each other.
The first was reported shortly before 2 a.m. at the Marathon station at 1201 South Broadway, Lt. Jeremy Tuttle said. A man dressed in black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and black shoes entered the business with a handgun, stole cash and ran toward Gibson Avenue.
The second robbery was reported at 2:14 a.m. at the Shell station at 1975 Nicholasville Road. A man dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt pulled over his face entered with a black handgun, stole cash and ran toward Southland Drive, Tuttle said.
It was not immediately clear whether the two robberies were related, Tuttle said.
