A Laurel County man faces multiple charges after allegedly striking and kicking his mother and later driving a truck into the side of a car wash.

Joseph Boswell, 38, of Lily was arrested Monday and was being held in the Laurel County jail, according to the Facebook page of the sheriff’s office.

The arrest happened on U.S. 25 about eight miles south of London after Deputy Shannon Jones was dispatched to a domestic violence complaint and then a related traffic crash.

Jones found that Boswell had allegedly struck his mother in the face and kicked her. He then left his home on Robinson Creek Road in a red Chevrolet pickup truck, which he later crashed into the side of the Ultimate Shine car wash about two miles away on U.S. 25.

The crash caused extensive damage to the business, the sheriff’s office said. Boswell left the scene of the crash but later returned.

Boswell was charged with driving under the influence, assault, criminal mischief, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and numerous traffic and equipment violations.
