Lexington police have arrested a man and charged him with murder in the death of a woman whose body was found on Pinkney Drive on Friday morning.

Amy Koegel, 43, was pronounced dead shortly after 10 a.m., according to a release from the Fayette County coroner’s office.

Koegel’s boyfriend, William R. Pomeroy, 45, was charged Friday with murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection with her death, police said.

Koegel and Pomeroy lived together in the house on Pinkney Drive where Koegel was found, police said. Police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said the body was found by officers during a welfare check at the home. Pomeroy turned himself in Friday afternoon.

Koegel had been reported missing, and her family hadn’t seen her since Wednesday evening, police said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday at the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at 859-258-3600. Anonymous tips, including photos and videos, can be submitted by text message to CRIMES (274637). Anonymous tips can also be called in to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020 or submitted at www.bluegrasscrimestoppers.com.

Funeral arrangements for Koegel are pending.
