A man died after he was shot in Knox County early Saturday morning, Kentucky State Police said.
At 12:45 a.m., the state police post in Harlan received a call from the Knox County 911 dispatch center requesting assistance on a shooting investigation. A Knox County deputy had arrived on scene and discovered the shooting victim lying in the middle of the road, state police said in a release.
Troopers and a detective were dispatched to Right Fork-East Creek Road in the Gray community. Upon arrival, they found the man lying in the roadway and Knox County emergency medical personnel where treating him. The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to Baptist Health Corbin, where he was pronounced dead.
The body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office where an autopsy will be performed. state police said.
