A Floyd County grand jury declined to indict a man who shot and killed two who had beaten him in his apartment, according to an attorney.
Ned Pillersdorf , the attorney for Ronnie Lee Hall, said he should never have been charged with two counts of murder in mid-April for “defending himself from violent home invaders.” Hall testified before the grand jury before it made its decision, Pillersdorf said on his Facebook page.
According to WYMT, Hall said he “shouted at three men urinating below his second-floor apartment.” They got into his apartment and hit him repeatedly. Hall fired at the three with a gun. Two died.
The men who died were Daniel Ronnie Harvill, 30, and Rodney Keith Whitaker, 33, both of Hueysville, Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson said in April. The third person, Ricky Goble, 51, of Hueysville, was taken to a local hospital, police said. His injuries were not life-threatening.
