A court security officer has been fired by the Anderson County sheriff because of a racist Facebook post.
Anderson County Sheriff Troy Young said he received a message on Saturday notifying him of the “inappropriate” post.
He said he called the employee, whom he declined to identify, in on Monday morning to talk to him about the post, and the employee was fired after admitting that he had shared it.
Young said the man worked part-time for the sheriff’s office, serving as a court security officer, or bailiff, a few days month. He was not a deputy, Young said.

Young issued a news release saying that the post “does not reflect the values of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.”
The Anderson News identified the employee as Cameron Thomas. The newspaper reported the post against blacks was an apparent reaction to recent incidents of violence involving police.
