Man seriously injured in early-morning shooting

A man sustained life-threatening injuries after being shot twice in Lexington early Saturday.

Police who were called to the 400 block of Dominican Drive at about 2:30 a.m. on a report of shots fired found the man, who had been shot “a couple of times,” said police Lt. Andrew Daugherty.

He was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Daugherty said police found two types of shell casings at the scene, so the man could have been shot by more than one person.

Witnesses told police some men had been arguing in the area before the shooting, and a vehicle was driven away afterward.

A burgundy vehicle had sideswiped a car in the area, leading police to think it might have been the getaway vehicle.
