London parents arrested for smoking meth around 2-year-old
The parents of a 2-year-old girl were booked in the Laurel County detention center after London police found her father smoking crystal meth in the child’s presence.
The Laurel Sheriff’s Police Department charged Anna Burdette, 29, with first degree criminal abuse and first degree wanton endangerment of a child 12 or under. The woman’s husband, Benjamin Burdette, was charged with first degree wanton endangerment, two counts of cruelty to animals and two counts of failing to comply with sex offender registration.
Anna was arrested at 11:06 a.m. Monday and Benjamin on Aug. 23.
During Benjamin’s arrest, police found “several medications, chemicals and meth pipes that the infant child could have easily accessed,” said Laurel Sheriff John Root in a news release.
The 2-year-old girl is currently with a grandparent.
