House fire displaces family, no one injured

A house fire Monday afternoon at 2629 Rockaway Place off Leestown Road displaced a family but no injuries were reported, said the Lexington fire department.

Batallion Chief Brad Whittaker said firefighters found heavy flames and smoke in the rear entrance of the single-family house when they arrived on the scene at 3:40 p.m.

He said the attic also was heavily damaged.

The fire was contained in about 15 minutes, he added.

Cause of the fire was not immediately known, said Whittaker.
