Man dead after early morning shooting in Richmond
A 21-year-old man died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest early Saturday morning during an altercation outside apartments on Foxhaven Drive in Richmond, Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said.
Cornelison identified the victim as Jaicoati Dean. He said a relative told him Dean was employed and was not a student at Eastern Kentucky University.
Dean was shot about 3:15 a.m. Saturday and was pronounced dead about 4 a.m. Saturday at the local hospital, Cornelison said.
An autopsy was performed Saturday in Frankfort, but Cornelison did not have immediate results.
No arrests have been made in the case, he said late Saturday afternoon.
Richmond police were handling the case but declined to comment.
