Extreme weather threat cancels Fayette school activities; some parents urged to call

Due to the threat of extreme weather Thursday evening, all Fayette County School District after-school and evening activities have been canceled, officials said.

Normal dismissal procedures will be followed Thursday, but any extra-curricular, co-curricular and school-operated after-school care programs are canceled.

Families with students involved in those activities are asked to pick up their children as soon as possible or make contact with the school to arrange for alternate transportation home.

Families with children in the accelerated learning labs at Harrison, Mary Todd, Arlington, Coventry Oak, the Academy for Leadership at Millcreek, William Wells Brown, Booker T. Washington, and Yates were asked to call the school to confirm pick up arrangements.

All children will be supervised until a trusted adult arrives.
