Jennifer Palumbo, WLEX anchor, self-quarantines after brief coronavirus exposure.

WLEX anchor Jennifer Nime Palumbo is in self-quarantine after being briefly exposed to someone who tested positive with COVID-19, the station reported Monday.

Palumbo does not have any symptoms but is taking the action after talking with her physician’s office and Lexington-Fayette County Health Department officials, WLEX said.

Health officials say she is at low risk and her family, friends, and co-workers do not need to self-quarantine, the station reported.

“Palumbo had a brief interaction last week during a doctor’s visit with a person who later tested positive for COVID-19 in Fayette County,” WLEX said. “Palumbo said she is not able to be tested because doctors told her she does not meet current criteria.”

“They told me they didn’t want to give me the COVID-19 test because they have a very limited supply, and I have no symptoms,” Palumbo was quoted as saying.

Palumbo will be posting about her experience in quarantine on Facebook and Twitter, the station reported.

For the time being, WLEX will focus on coronavirus coverage during the 12:30 p.m. time slot for ‘It’s On’, WLEX anchor Chris Goodman said Monday on air.

WLEX news director Brian Neal said the station wouldn’t be releasing additional information at this time.
