Senate bill giving Kentucky schools more virtual learning days moves ahead in House
A Senate bill that would allow schools to have more at-home learning days moved ahead in the House Thursday.
The bill comes at a time when Kentucky has a record number of COVID cases.
Senate Bill 25, which would allow 10 virtual learning days for an individual school or class without the entire district shutting down, was approved by the House State Government Committee. It now goes to the full House.
The 10 virtual learning days would be separate from the state’s non-traditional instruction program. 10 NTI days are allowed per district under state law.
The bill sponsor, State Sen. Max Wise, R-Campellsville, said he had heard no opposition to his version of the bill.
A committee substitute of the bill passed that would extend emergency orders dealing with COVID in other areas of state government.
