Officials investigate video of one KY student hitting another. Principal suspended
A Lincoln County Middle school principal has been suspended with pay while county school officials investigate a video of one student hitting another, district spokesman Brad Smith said Friday.
“A video surfaced on social media of a student hitting another student on Feb. 16.,” Smith said. “After some brief research it was determined the altercation occurred in October. “
The principal, Stacy Story, could not be immediately reached for comment.
“The suspension of the principal at Lincoln County Middle School occurred so we can properly conduct an internal investigation of the incident,” said Lincoln County Superintendent Michael Rowe. “This suspension is not disciplinary, but was intended to allow the district to examine the issues thoroughly and to determine appropriate action.”
Rowe said the district’s main objective was to determine “how the incident occurred and how to prevent it from happening in the future.”
“The safety and well-being of our students will always be our top priority at Lincoln County Schools,” Rowe said.
Stanford Police Department deputies also serve as school resource officers for the district “so it is normal procedure for us to work with them on an event like this,” Smith said.
