‘A collaborative, bilingual leader.’ Lexington elementary school is getting a new principal
Lizette Rogers is the the next principal of Lexington’s Arlington Elementary School, effective Monday, a statement on the Fayette County Public Schools’ website said.
Rogers’ instructional knowledge, advocacy for diverse populations, experience with schools with lower income student populations and promotion of innovative ideas will be assets to the Arlington Elementary community, according to the district news release.
“As a collaborative, bilingual leader with over 18 years of experience in three states and Japan, Rogers is dedicated to ensuring that students are engaged and that educators have support to overcome barriers and raise student achievement,” the news release said.
Rogers speaks Spanish, district officials said.
Rogers earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Florida Atlantic University, a master’s degree in organizational management and a second master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Phoenix, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Eastern Kentucky University, district officials said.
She previously taught for four years at Lexington’s Dixie Magnet Elementary and served four years as assistant principal at Yates Elementary. She also taught fourth and fifth grade in Clark and Fayette counties.
