The last day of the academic year in Fayette County Public Schools will be Friday, May 26, school board members decided Monday.

District-wide, five instructional days have been missed in the 2022-23 school year — one day for sickness and others for weather, including the recent March windstorm.

Those days do not have to be made up because the district will have met the state requirements for instructional days and hours in the 2022-23 school year without using weather make-up days, district officials said.

For the academic year, only one day of instruction was canceled and non-traditional or at home instruction implemented. That was in January due to winter weather.

Also at Monday’s school board meeting, board members set the schedule for high school graduations in Lexington’s Rupp Arena, which will be after the Memorial Day holiday weekend:

Tuesday, May 30

  • 10 a.m. Lafayette
  • 2 p.m. Paul Laurence Dunbar
  • 6 p.m. Tates Creek

Wednesday, May 31

  • 10 a.m. Frederick Douglass
  • 2 p.m. Bryan Station
  • 6 p.m. Henry Clay
