A Fayette County Public Schools bus was hit from behind by a Lexington Fire Department ambulance while on the way to Lexington’s Tates Creek High School Thursday morning, district spokesperson Dia Davidson-Smith said.

Davidson Smith said the bus, with 23 students on board at Man O’ War Boulevard and Buckhorn Drive, was trying to move out of the way of the ambulance when it happened.

One student reported an injury and was taken to the hospital, Davidson-Smith said. No serious injuries were reported.

Maj. Derek Roberts, a spokesperson for the fire department, confirmed the incident and said the ambulance was taking a patient to a hospital when the wreck happened. Another ambulance showed up to take the patient.
