Kentucky high school principal charged with giving students alcohol from beer bong
A Kenton County high school principal has been charged after police on Thursday released a video they say shows him giving alcohol to two students at his home last year.
Anthony Procaccino, 50, is accused of giving the high school students alcohol out of a multi-hosed funnel, commonly called a beer bong, at a New Year’s Eve party last year.
“Over this past weekend, the Kenton County Police Department received a complaint of an adult male serving and drinking alcohol with teenage juveniles,” police said in a Facebook post. “This complaint was brought forward by the mother of one of the involved juveniles, who also provided videos of the incident.”
Procaccino was the principal at Whites Tower Elementary at the time of the video. He was hired this year as principal at Scott High School.
Police said the students were 16 or 17 in the video. One was a student at Scott High.
Procaccino was charged with two counts of aiding or assisting the consumption of alcohol by someone younger than 21. The violations are punishable by fines of up to $250 on each count, police said.
Procaccino’s case was not on Kentucky’s online court records by Friday morning.
On Friday morning, Jessica Dykes, a spokesperson for Kenton County Schools, confirmed that district officials are cooperating with police. Assistant Principal Cody Wolf has been named interim principal, she said.
