Randy Neeley will be the next superintendent of Madison County Public Schools, district officials announced Monday.

Neeley has served in a variety of roles in Madison County Schools since 1994, including as a teacher, coach, assistant middle school principal, head elementary school principal, director of pupil personnel, deputy superintendent and interim superintendent.

Neeley will take over at the beginning of 2025 following the retirement of David Gilliam.

“Dr. Gilliam has been more than just my supervisor the last 5 years. He fulfills all the traits of a phenomenal leader, but he is also a true Christian man who stays true to his core values through good times and also times of struggle,” Neeley said. “I am very honored and humbled to follow him in this leadership role. I am also honored and humbled to lead this district after spending the majority of my life here — as an alum and an employee. I am just so glad to be here. January 1, we’ll be ready to go,” Neeley said.

Neeley was accompanied at today’s announcement by his wife, Michelle, and their two daughters, Mattie Jo and Mollie. His contract will last four years.
