A Fayette County preschool teacher has died, school officials say

A preschool teacher at Lexington’s William Wells Brown Elementary School has died, according to a Facebook post from the school.

‘We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our preschool teacher, Mrs. Frances Blackford. Mrs. Blackford was loved by all. Please keep her family, our W.W.B. family and our preschool team in your thoughts and prayers,” the William Wells Brown Elementary post said.

Bethsaida Baptist Church officials posted that Blackford died on Nov. 28.

More than 30 people had expressed sympathy about Blackford’s death on social media by Saturday morning,

Officials at Hawkins Taylor Funeral Home in Lexington, who are handling the arrangements, said Blackford was 62.

A cause of death was not included in the social media posts. Fayette County Public Schools officials did not immediately make an additional comment.
