Tuesday afternoon, Fayette County public school bus drivers will warm up their buses, remove any remaining snow and exit the bus garage to test usual bus routes, district officials told families in a message Tuesday.

School district officials had not announced by 3 p.m. Tuesday whether in-person classes will be held Wednesday.

“This test run will give us the best possible view of road conditions and how they may impact the safety of bus travel,” district officials said.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, district officials asked citizens to “help our students return to school by clearing the sidewalk in front of your home or business. This helps make traveling to and from school more safe for our walkers.”

Following Friday’s snowstorm, Monday and Tuesday were designated at home learning days, also called non-traditional instruction days. The district also held four traditional snow days last week.

Parents at Monday’s school board meeting asked that the school district coordinate with city officials on a snow plan that would include snow bus stops.
