Fayette County Public Schools said it will make up just one of the days students missed in January because of winter weather.

“FCPS will use Friday, March 14, as a winter weather make-up day, and schools will be in session,” the district said in an announcement to families Friday afternoon. “At this time, there are no plans for additional make-up days, which are scheduled at the superintendent’s discretion. You can view the details at www.fcps/calendar at any time.”

Fayette County took four traditional snow days Jan. 7-10.

The school system has had four NTI, or at-home learning, days as well, Jan. 13-15 and Jan. 22.

Under state law, Kentucky school districts can have 10 non-traditional instruction days. Because several districts have used more NTI days this school year than normal because of weather events and violent incidents, Kentucky Education Commissioner Robbie Fletcher and superintendents are asking state lawmakers for more days.
