Kentucky elementary school students eat THC gummies they thought were candy, district says

Five elementary school aged kids in Louisville ate THC gummies while at school Wednesday, according to a letter from the school’s principal.

The incident happened at Wellington Elementary School. In the letter sent to school parents, Principal Brandi Carney said the students ate the gummies while in a classroom, believing they were candy.

The students did not appear to be sick, but they were checked out by EMS and the school nurse, Carney said. They determined the students did not need any additional medical attention and they were released from school.

One student brought the gummies from home and shared them with the four others. Carney said the packaging had the name “LiiTT Exotics” on it and could easily be mistaken for a bag of candy.

“I hope this unfortunate incident results in a lesson learned for our students as well as our families,” Carney said in the letter. “Please be careful with what your children have access to in your home.”
