The next principal of Rosa Parks Elementary is Patrice Burlew, who begins her new role July 1, Fayette County Public Schools officials announced Thursday

With more than 16 years of experience in education and service to Fayette County Public Schools, Burlew has served as assistant principal at Veterans Park Elementary since 2022, district officials said in a news release.

“Ms. Burlew is a passionate, student-centered leader who brings a wealth of experience, instructional expertise and a collaborative spirit to Rosa Parks,” said Superintendent Demetrus Liggins. “With a career rooted in service across multiple schools and a strong foundation in curriculum, equity, and professional learning, she is uniquely equipped to lead with vision and heart.”

Burlew joined FCPS in 2008 as a fourth-grade teacher. She taught in elementary classrooms at four schools for 14 years before becoming an assistant principal.

Burlew holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Cincinnati Christian University, a master’s degree in Education from the University of the Cumberlands, and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Kentucky.

She will replace Claudine Barrow, who is retiring from Rosa Parks
