The proposed cost of a new Fayette elementary school is increasing by more than $5 million, while the proposed cost of a new high school is dropping by $7 million, school board agenda documents for a Monday meeting show.

Construction of a new elementary school on Greendale Road will start in spring 2025, and completion is planned for spring 2027.

It will serve 750 students in K-5th grade.

The proposed costs have increased from $44.9 million to $50.5 million, according to school board documents.

The school district also has plans to build a new Henry Clay High School on the same Fontaine Road property as the current high school.

The high school is for grades 9-12 and will house about 2,300 students.

That new building project is planned to start construction in June 2025 and to end in spring 2028.

The cost included in the project application last October was $185.6 million. The new project application cost on Monday’s school board planning meeting agenda is $178.3 million.
