Drone show lights up skies during orientation week for new UK students

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a...wildcat over the University of Kentucky library.

On Thursday night, as part of UK’s Campus Ruckus event for incoming students, the skies over the William T. Young Library lit up with a drone light show. Included in the show were a wildcat, “Welcome to UK!” and the UK logo.

Campus Ruckus is an annual event part of K Week, UK’s orientation week for new students.

UK is predicting its largest-ever class of freshmen, estimating 6,850 freshmen will enroll this fall and a total enrollment of 36,700.

The fall semester begins on Monday, Aug. 25.

UK has put on similar light shows at events, like the Tyler Childers concert at Kroger Field in April.
