Fayette County Public Schools has canceled classes Friday, Dec. 12, and will have a traditional snow day, district officials announced Thursday night.

It is the district’s second snow day of the 2025-2026 school year.

Scott, Franklin, Woodford, Bourbon, Boyle, Oldham, Knott, Bell, Estill, Pike, Morgan and Floyd counties are among several Kentucky school districts that had canceled in-person classes as of Thursday night.

Although Friday is a traditional snow day, Fayette County Public Schools will continue to have virtual learning, or non-traditional instruction days, this winter in addition to traditional snow days, district officials recently announced.

The announcement comes after FCPS Superintendent Demetrus Liggins recommended in August the district discontinue NTI days as a cost-cutting measure in the cash-strapped district
