FCPS cancels in-person classes for 8th straight day. It’s a snow day

Fayette County Public Schools is canceling in-person classes Wednesday, Feb. 4.

It will be a traditional snow day. A decision on Wednesday afternoon and evening activities will be made by noon Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, FCPS has had eight straight school days without in-person classes.

As of Wednesday, FCPS used non-traditional instruction days Jan. 26-29 and traditional snow days Dec. 2, Dec. 12, Dec. 15, Jan. 30 and Feb. 2-4.

Only March 20 has been designated as a make-up day for students so far, according to the district.

Superintendent Demetrus Liggins said at a school board meeting Monday the district loses $223,000 per day when using NTI days.

Road conditions have remained poor after several inches of snow fell on Central Kentucky Jan. 24 and 25, and a wintry mix started falling Tuesday night.
