‘Explicit photos of underage female.’ KY teacher charged with child pornography
A Laurel County teacher has been arrested on child pornography charges, police and school officials said Monday.
On Sunday, the Barbourville Police Department and Laurel County Schools Police conducted an investigation into Bradley Kyle Yeager requesting and receiving explicit photographs of an underage female, officials said.
Yeager, a 35-year-old teacher at South Laurel High School, was arrested Sunday evening and charged with possessing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor under 12 and procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means.
Yeager, of Heidrick, was arraigned in Knox District Court Monday. He is being held at the Knox County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash bond, subject to conditions including living with his parents and refraining from using social media or any electronic devices. All felony cases in Kentucky district courts are automatically entered as not-guilty pleas. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 12. He is still in custody, according to the jail’s online roster.
A Barbourville woman told police Yeager paid her to send him sexual images and videos of herself and her small child, according to an arrest citation reviewed by the Herald-Leader. Evidence, including “explicit photographs of a underage female,” gave officers probable cause to execute a search warrant at Yeagers’ house, Barbourville Police said in a Facebook post.
“During the investigation evidence was obtained that resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Mr. Yeager’s residence,” Barbourville Police officials said in a Facebook post.
On Sunday, May 3, the Laurel County Public Schools Police Department was notified by the Barbourville City Police Department about the investigation into Yeager, district officials said in a Facebook post.
Yeager is currently suspended from employment pending the outcome of the investigation, district officials said.
“Laurel County Schools considers the safety and well-being of our students and the trust of our parents to be the top priority,” school district officials said. “We strive to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for all students, where our teachers and staff serve as positive role models. All allegations of misconduct are addressed immediately and in the best interests of our students.”
