Lexington high school hires interim principal for next school year
Rebecca Shearer has been selected as interim principal of Bryan Station High School, district officials announced Wednesday.
Shearer will replace current principal Eric Hale beginning July 1, and she will serve in the role for the 2026-2027 school year.
Shearer has 28 years of education experience, including roles as the coach of Bryan Station Academies and principal of the school’s Information Technology Academy. Before joining Bryan Station in 2019, she was the academic performance coach for Lincoln County Public Schools.
She has a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s in school improvement from the University of the Cumberlands.
“Rebecca Shearer is a proven instructional leader with an exceptional commitment to the Bryan Station High School community. She has a passion for continuing the acceleration of student outcomes and collaborating with students, teachers, staff, and families to advance the great work already in place,” Fayette County School District Assistant Superintendent Bill Bradford said in a statement.
During the next school year, the district’s school-based decision-making council will work with Chris Salyers, the district’s chief of high schools, to select a permanent replacement for Hale, district officials said in a news release.
