School counselors Monday were working with students at Bardstown’s Thomas Nelson High School following the death of a student set to be a senior in the fall.

The Hardin County Coroner’s office said the cause of death was under a pending, ongoing investigation.

Principal Curt Merrifield’s statement to families, posted on Facebook, did not say how Jaxon Rhodes had died.

“Jaxon was a quiet and reserved student who had a close circle of friends,” said Merrifield. “Those that knew him appreciated his thoughtful personality and the moments they shared together. Like all of our students, he was continuing to discover who he was and grow.”

“Our hearts are with Jaxon’s family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and cared for him,” Merrifield said.

“We encourage families to talk openly with their children, listen to their concerns, and reassure them that it is okay to seek support,” said Merrifield.
