UK adopts new anti-hazing policy

The University of Kentucky has adopted a new anti-hazing policy.

The policy prohibits activities including forced consumption of food, alcohol or drugs, paddling, sleep or food deprivation and participation in illegal activities.

The policy applies to UK's fraternity and sorority community, faculty, staff, volunteers, organizations, patients, customers and alumni.

It guarantees that anyone who reports hazing or knows about it will not be charged with a violation of the regulation, nor will an organization that seeks help in preventing future hazing.

Possible sanctions for individual students who violate the policy range from a warning to expulsion. Sanctions for groups include suspension or restriction from UK property or revocation of the group's student organization status.
