Kentucky Community and Technical College System names interim chancellor
Kentucky Community and Technical College officials have named George Edwards interim chancellor of the system.
Last month, Chancellor Jay Box was named KCTCS interim president. President Mike McCall will retire in January.
Edwards retired this month from Big Sandy Community and Technical College, where he served as president for 14 years. Edwards has 35 years of teaching and administrative experience at four community colleges in Kentucky and Virginia.
The chancellor is the system's chief academic officer and provides direction for academic affairs, economic/workforce development, institutional research and effectiveness, distance learning initiatives, and professional development.
"We're pleased to have Dr. Edwards agree to step into this position," Box said. "He brings a wide array of experience from his many years at KCTCS and elsewhere in higher education. He is the right person to lead the chancellor's office during this interim period."
The KCTCS chancellor position is posted, and a new chancellor will be named by April 1.
