Police are investigating the possibility that a gun was taken to Bryan Station High School Wednesday morning.

Few details were immediately available, but Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said Fayette Schools security called city officers for assistance.

According to Roberts, school security apparently received information suggesting that a student had a gun and left the school, possibly taking the weapon along.

The student was later located, and was being questioned by school security officials, Roberts said.

In a 6 p.m. email to parents, Principal Mike Henderson said, "This is an ongoing investigation and we can assure you that every precaution is being taken to ensure the safety of our students and staff, including increased police presence at Bryan Station High School until the matter is resolved."
