As part of a campus revitalization, demolition continued on an Eastern Kentucky University residence hall that had been in use for more than 50 years.

Martin Hall is being razed to make room for a new modern dormitory that should be ready by fall 2017.

Named for Eastern’s seventh president, Robert R. Martin, and opened during his presidency in 1962, the four-story, L-shaped dorm near the intersection of Park Drive and Lancaster Avenue housed as many as 400 students.

Former residents of Martin Hall will be given first priority for housing placement in the new dorm when it is completed.
