Tates Creek baseball player at Florida tourney cited on alcohol charge
A Tates Creek High School baseball player in Florida with the team for a spring break tournament last week was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol, Fayette County Public Schools’ spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall said.
Deffendall said the Fort Walton Beach, Fla., sheriff’s office cited the player, who district officials aren’t naming because he is a juvenile.
“Appropriate disciplinary action has been taken” by school district officials, Deffendall said.
Deffendall confirmed a WKYT-TV report that the student was under the supervision of chaperones, not a coach, at the time he was cited.
