Anonymous couple gives $1 million to EKU
An anonymous couple has bequeathed $1 million to their alma mater, Eastern Kentucky University, to help undergraduate students.
One $500,000 endowed scholarship will assist art or art and design studio majors who have a 3.0 GPA and show financial aid. Another will help elementary education majors.
The scholarships reflect the majors of the couple.
“Our time at EKU was wonderful, some of the best times in our lives,” the couple said jointly. “We feel so fortunate to be able to pay it forward.”
Nick Perlick, vice president for development and alumni relations at EKU, said the gift is important to EKU’s future.
“Endowed scholarships will benefit generations of students,” Perlick said. “And planned gifts signal to other donors a giving instrument they may not have considered.”
