$1.6 billion for free? That possibility drew Mega Millions players to Lexington lot for tickets
With a world record Mega Millions jackpot being drawn on Tuesday night, the Kentucky Lottery celebrated by handing out free tickets.
A total of 250 coupons for free plays were given out on a first-come, first-served basis Tuesday morning in the Red Mile parking, according to the Kentucky Lottery.
The record-breaking jackpot expected for the next Mega Millions drawing was at $1.6 billion by Monday afternoon. The next drawing will be held Tuesday night at 11 p.m., according to the Mega Millions website.
