Four children killed, mom hurt in Indiana house fire

Four children were killed and their mother and two police officers were injured Monday in an early-morning house fire in Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that the children’s mother was flown to a hospital from the fire in Flora, about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis.

A Carroll County sheriff’s deputy and Flora police officer were injured, but details of their injuries or conditions haven’t been released. The Department of Homeland Security and the Indiana state fire marshal are investigating.

Broadcasters reported that most of the damage appeared to be on the first floor of the multi-story home. The cause wasn’t immediately known.
